Here’s art commissioned by Gordon Bowness, editor of In Toronto Magazine, (my fella, go figure) for a feature cover story on gay foster parenting. I immediately thought of the woman who lived in a shoe for the image, and both Gordon and the publisher loved the idea. Stylistically, I was inspired by Little Golden Books and particularly my idols, husband and wife illustrators, Alice and Martin Provensen.
